The Soul and the Modern World

Sundays  9:30am at Berrien Center Bible Church in Classroom #2

STARTING Sunday May 31st

Every cultural battle over identity is ultimately a theological battle over what it means to be human.  What is a human? Your answer impacts how you respond to every hot issue we face today:

  • Abortion asks: When does a human become a person?
  • Euthanasia asks: Does human value depend on usefulness?
  • Transgenderism asks: Can identity be separated from the body?
  • Transhumanism asks: Can humanity transcend its created limitations?
  • AI ethics asks: What distinguishes humans from machines?
  • Pornography asks: Is the body sacred or common?
  • Consumerism asks: Is the soul's hunger meant to be fed or formed?
  • Suicide culture asks: Is life intrinsically meaningful?

Get the human wrong, and we get everything else wrong too.

We'll explore what Scripture says about the soul—what it is, why it matters, and what it means for how we live in the modern world. Join leaders Bill & Timothy Zebell this summer.

Theology deep dive: understanding the doctrine of god

Sunday starting Jan. 4th 9:30am in the Multipurpose Room

This learning elective is designed to make Christian theology clear and accessible for everyday believers - beginners or experts alike will enjoy the conversation! We’ll explore core doctrines of the faith in a practical, down-to-earth way—no prior study required. The first section will be "Theology Proper" (studying what the Bible says about God the Father). Following that, we'll move into units on the identity of Christ and of the Holy Spirit. If you’ve ever wanted to know God in a more personal way, this class is a great place to start.

Teacher Bio

Jacob Baker spent thirteen years as an associate pastor and holds a Master of Divinity from Moody Theological Seminary. He teaches sections of this theology course in African church leaders each year and loves helping people here in the U.S. understand core Christian truths in a clear, practical way.  Jacob, his wife Katie, and their five kids live in St. Joseph, and have been a part of the BCBC family since 2023.

BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP (BSF)

Begins September 16th – May 5th , and May 11th for Celebration Day

Romans: From Guilt to Grace

This 30 week study is for everyone, at every stage and season of life. For believers, it reminds us that the God who saved us is also transforming us –day by day, from inside out. For those who may be exploring faith, Romans reveals true freedom and unshakable hope. Together, we’ll discover how God alone moves us from striving to surrender, from performance to peace, from fear to faith, and from quilt to grace.

Romans is a letter written to ordinary people – people like you and me. It speaks to our deepest struggles – doubt, pride, fear, and guilt – and leads us straight to God’s grace.

NOW is the time to register to hold your spot for fall.
